Actually, strictly speaking this doesn’t qualify: there seem to be deeper reasons for these lettershapes than “trend”:
Blah: 2011 C G R QGT Haptik is a Grotesque typeface with a very special characteristic: Its uppercase letters and numbers are optimized to be read blindfolded and by touching them. Because of that its glyphs are monoline and geometrical. Optical criteria become secondary.
